Limiting COVID-19 exposure while maintaining full access to your Sovita accounts

Dear Members,

At Sovita Credit Union, the health and well-being of our members, employees and community is most important. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be feeling surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are committed to being responsive to the needs of our members and employees as the situation evolves.

We have a plan in place to meet the needs of our staff and members, which is reviewed on a daily basis. We are following the most current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and other state and local authorities and make proactive adjustments as needed.

To ensure that you are aware of our efforts and comfortable with our commitment to provide the service you depend on daily, we will provide updates that will be posted on our website and social media page for your convenience.

Sovita Credit Union will remain open during normal business hours and fully functional, however, due to the State of Michigan’s request to encourage social distancing, the credit union will follow capacity limits when allowing access to the lobby area at each office and will provide updates to our members as we receive guidance from the CDC, MDHHS and other state and local authorities.

If you do need to come into an office, you will notice a few modifications to our lobby and member suite areas. We have implemented additional cleaning and sanitizing procedures and posted signage to assist members in practicing social distancing of at least 6 feet. To help keep members and staff safe and healthy we also implemented the following changes:

We ask members to not enter a building if:

1. You have or had any of the following symptoms in the last two (2) days that are unrelated to a known health condition:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion
  • Inability to awake or stay awake
  • Bluish lips or face

2. You had close contact in the last fourteen (14) days with someone displaying symptoms of or diagnosed with COVID-19. Close contact means you have been within six feet of someone who has COVID-19 or has displayed symptoms of COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes or as otherwise defined by the CDC.

Everyone who has not been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 according to CDC guidelines must wear a mask, which covers their nose and mouth, when in one of our offices. You can expect all credit union staff to be wearing a mask.

Please limit the number of persons who come with you into an office to one. Because of the MDHHS's guidance, we must limit the number of persons in our offices and we want to quickly and safely assist as many members as possible.

We have modified our lobby areas to allow for social distancing of at least 6 feet and are required to adhere to the capacity limit for each building based on guidance by the MDHHS. We encourage you to use our drive-thru as we believe it is a safer way to conduct your transaction and reduce your wait time in an office.

We will continue to assist members in person and through our drive-thru service at the locations and hours listed below. You may also continue to contact us via telephone or e-mail or by requesting an in-branch appointment starting March 22, 2021.

Monday – Friday 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

Saturday 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Sovita Branch Offices without drive-thru capabilities:

The Lapeer branch office and the Flint branch office do not have drive-thru services.  Please call ahead to schedule an appointment at those offices too.  We are required to adhere to capacity requirements set forth by the MDHHS and we feel the safest way to handle transactions at that branch office is by scheduling an appointment. Most transactions can be handled at an ATM, over the telephone, online or by using our electronic services. Please contact the credit union via telephone or e-mail and a representative will assist you.

We appreciate your understanding and want to highlight some of the ways you can access your account information and complete your banking:

  •  Use your ATM, VISA Debit and Credit Cards at merchants to pay for purchases.

  • At an ATM. Your ATM or VISA Debit Card can be used to obtain cash or make a deposit at over 30,000 no-surcharge ATMs nationwide. To find a no-surcharge ATM near you, please use the online ATM locator available at:

  • 24 hours a day through our mobile banking app, available from the App Store or Google Play for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. The login credentials are the same as your online banking login credentials. Mobile banking allows you to:

    • To Review account balances and transactions
    • Transfers funds between Share Accounts and Loans
    • Pay loan or VISA payments
    • Pay bills via CheckFree bill payment system
    • Deposit checks via Mobile Check Deposit (enroll through A+COMPUTE Online Banking)
  • Online at sovitacu.org from your desktop computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet 24 hours a  day. If you need assistance with your online banking login, please contact a Member Services Representative. Online banking allows you to:

    • Review account balances and transactions
    • Transfers funds between Share Accounts and Loans
    • Pay loan or VISA payments
    • Pay bills via CheckFree bill payment system
  • By telephone at 800.369.2786, 810.720.8300 or 810.664.5351 during normal business hours or through the A+CALL telephone transaction system available at 810.732.1980.

  • Apply for loans over the telephone or online at sovitacu.org. Loan documentation may be signed electronically or an in-branch appointment can be scheduled to accommodate your needs.

  • Account requests, including ATM and VISA Debit Cards, check reorders, stop payments, unauthorized transactions and most requests can be handled via telephone.

Sovita Credit Union Employee Well-being
We have established a company-wide policy to identify any employee with emerging symptoms consistent with the flu or Coronavirus and will take necessary actions to reduce exposure to other employees and members.

Data Processing
We work with a data processor and vendors with strategically located datacenters to provide uninterrupted service during natural disasters and incidents like the Coronavirus outbreak. You can expect your deposits and withdrawals to post to your account with little to no interruption.

You will continue to have access to your account 24 hours a day through A+COMPUTE Online Banking, the A+CALL Telephone Transaction system and the A+COMPUTE Mobile Banking App. You may continue to use your ATM, VISA Debit and Credit Cards to pay for purchases or obtain cash from any ATM.
